Sunday....arrival at Charleston

Left our great anchorage at about 7:30 with our crew of Steve and Cheryl sleeping in. We had a short 2 1/2 hour run to Charleston which was beautiful.  Charleston is called the lowlands of South Carolina and it is full of marshlands.  We passed a few playful dolphins as we arrived at our marina Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina.  This location was fabulous as we were directly across from the Aircraft Carrier Yorktown. After tying up we quickly decided to tour the carrier.  At the ticket booth was an older gentleman and  I asked if he obviously was a veteran. He replied he was in the Air Force.  I found out that he was stationed at Nakom Phanom RTAFB in 1969 and I was stationed there in 1972.  That is the first time since I left Thailand that I met someone who had been stationed there.  After a few brief sentences in Thai we shook hands and off to the museum. If you are ever in Charleston this place is a must see. They also had a battleship and a Vietnam museum as well.

After a nice lunch at the Fish House,  Steve and Cheryl had to say goodbye and off they went to get back to their home in Murrells Inlet. Carol And I decided to take the rest of the day off and relax on the boat.  I still had to fix my generator before we leave here. We also unloaded our bikes and took a ride about the property.  This place is so large it was nice to be able to ride the bikes to the marina office and the marina store.
